Strange has launched a new site - www.survivinguni.co.uk – the online hub of a new campaign by the Department of Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS) to promote higher education. Aimed at 16 to 19 year olds, the campaign aims to help increase applications for higher education by demonstrating its value and increasing awareness of the financial support available to students.
With research showing that young people are more likely to trust information and knowledge from friends, the site has peer-style advice, rather than the authoritative tones of the government. To enhance the site’s trust and credibility, Strange has designed a fresh look and feel with strong visual appeal.
In addition to a section on Financial Support,‘Surviving Uni’ has four other sections on key areas of university life, living away from home and the benefits of higher education: Getting Involved, Becoming Independent, Money-Saving Tips and Realise Your Potential. There is also a Jargon Buster and Facts section.
The site will stay live until January 2009, with directional ads running on Real Sound Vision Print (RSVP) alliance media. The RSVP alliance is between Viacom Brand Solutions, GCap Media and IPC Media.
