Briefed on Tuesday, live by Friday! Strange completed a new microsite and online PR campaign for the new Boyz II Men CD, Motown: Hitsville USA, in just four days. Launched by Universal, the new album microsite is at http://boyziimen.portfolio.strangecorp.com.
With little notice of Boyz II Men’s impending guest appearances on the UK’s X Factor and France’s Star Academy, Universal was confident that Strange would be able to produce a high quality solution in a matter of days (and nights). The TV appearances are to promote the launch of their new album on 13 November – their first major release in five years.
Strange also issued a strategic online press release, in English, French and German, Italian and Spanish to draw attention to the Boyz II Men TV appearances and generate traffic to the microsite.
The new CD contains samples of album songs, photos and bios of the Boyz II Men members, Shawn Stockman, Wanya Morris and Nathan Morris.
Motown: Hitsville USA, features classic Motown songs given a new treatment with the Boys II Men signature sound of soulful R&B harmonies.
On Saturday 3 November the threesome will join Simon Cowell, Danii Minogue, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh on the X Factor. The following week Boyz II Men will appear on Star Academy 7 on TF1.
Natives of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Boyz II Men have been cited as “the most commercially successful R&B group of all time.” Between 1992 and 1997, they recorded five No1 hits, sold over 60 million records worldwide and earned a host of major awards.
The success of Boyz II Men has been helmed by mega-producer/music veteran Randy Jackson, who is also a judge on the American Idol TV series. Commenting on Motown: Hitsville USA, Jackson said: “The mixture of the classic Motown sound and today’s R&B soul is what makes this album truly unique.”
Motown: Hitsville USA includes favorites such as, Just My Imagination (The Temptations), Ain't Nothin’ Like The Real Thing and Mercy Mercy Me (Marvin Gaye), Tracks Of My Tears (Smokey Robinson) and Got To Be There (Michael Jackson) plus an a cappella version of Stevie Wonder’s Ribbon In The Sky and Boyz II Men’s own End Of The Road.
