Strange has produced a new website called ‘Where’s your head at?’ to provide information on mental health and emotional well being for young people. Commissioned by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service at Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the new site is at www.wheresyourheadat.co.uk.
While there are many excellent sites dealing with specific mental health issues for children and teens, the ‘Where’s your head at?’ project was initiated by the need to encompass the full range of mental health issues. It also coincides with a new government initiative for earlier recognition and more widespread treatment of mental health issues.
The new website provides a hub of information on the wide range of help, advice and services available within the Dorset area. The information is divided into four sections for kids, teens, parents/carers and professionals (such as teachers or GPs). In each section the design and information is specifically tailored to each group.
The site also features a Local Services Finder where users can click on a map of Dorset for a comprehensive list of clinics, youth clubs, sports facilities/parks, support advisers and other resources in their local area.
